Some Considerations in Your Reno/New Build Planning

Air Quality...Ah, that sweet smell of.... *Cough*!

If you're considering a New Pool or a Pool Renovation, and you're considering the Air Quality options out there, PLEASE...read this article. (This means you...Aquatic Managers, Design Engineers, Etc...)

The challenge is Chloramines. The industry, in my opinion, has been all over the place for a long time; secondary sanitation, non chlorine solutions, heck, even a little bit of praying have been shoved down our throats for the last 20 years, and for some - the problem STILL persists.

For the last 20 years, I have been preaching the tune of a simple truth - the chloramine problem is a simple one - look at your water quality! "But my chlorine is always fine", you say?; think again! the most underestimated part of the MODERN water quality control system is...SANITIZER SIZING. Yep - chances are that Chlorine Feeder is TOO SMALL for your pool's demand. Across the country, chemical feeder sizing is GROSSLY UNDERSIZED for the pools purpose - Leading to POOR WATER QUALITY, meaning chloramines in the pool water (AND AIR). When you went to pool school, the one thing they didn't mention is that all the chemistry involved will NOT occur if your chemical feeder is not getting the chlorine there FAST enough... its simple math!

If you start there, you'll find NO NEED to look at your air handling system (unless you are not dehumidifying your air). Then you can relieve yourself of EXHAUSTING your air; think about it - pulling all the air out simply overwhelms your Dehumidifier - unless you want to spend MORE MONEY to keep up!

Trust me, I've been "clearing the air" and helping facilities, NEW AND OLD, take care of their chloramine issues, Saving them plenty of dollars and GRIEF.
